An Eventful First Friendly!

Well it was business as usual for the Devy, when we met Bedford Albion for our first friendly outing of the season, playing out a boring 5-5 draw!!!
A fantastic start saw us take a 3-0 lead early on with goals from our defenders, Mike, Brooksy and Jason! Old habits came back to haunt us however after several errors and poor marking from corners let Albion back into the game. We still managed to lead 5-2 with further goals from Terry and Russell, the latter making his debut for the club.

Rolling subs meant the team looked a little ragged in the second half and our good start could not be replicated as Albion clawed their way back into the game eventually squaring things up at 5 apiece.

With dogs on the pitch and Simon having to go off with a bloody nose, the match was certainly not without it's fair share of entertainment. Positives can be taken from a lot of our early play but many lessons need to be learned. Now is the time, however, to get mistakes out of our system before the big kick-off on Sunday September 7th.

Devonshire Arms News

Andy 'Nobber' Norbury has agreed to become our new player manager the club can now confirm. We were looking for someone to take charge on match days and we are delighted that Andy has decided to help us out. Please can everybody listen to and respect Andy's decisions and ideas as this is vital to the club succeeding this season.

Also a reminder that the club require all signing on fees (£20) as soon as possible as this will enable us to replace missing kit, first aid items and footballs etc. Please make sure you pay either Brooksy or Jason before the season starts.

With the countdown on to the new season and with a new look team developing nicely the Devonshire Arms website is also undergoing a new look. The basic structure is staying the same but a few minor cosmetic alterations will hopefully improve the site.

The supporters section has been removed as it was a little bit too much work to update. Other changes include the addition of the Devonshire Arms FC Calendar, situated in the 'Fixture Calendar' section and the gallery has also been revamped as we hope to add a lot more pictures to it this season. Summer Training

Training has now resumed at Russell Park, Bedford. Please do your best to attend. We will hopefully be drafting Andy and Stevie in to do some fitness and coaching sessions, so the effort would be much appreciated.
